This personality change we were encouraged to make encompassed every part of our lives - work, home, not just at JW functions. I tried so hard to conform and for a while I think I made a fairly good show. But it required so much effort, much more effort than putting on the 'professional face' for work. I don't think it is natural to suppress the creative spirit. But then again, there isn't a lot of creativity required to be a window washer, janitor, housekeeper, bus driver....

Putting on the new personality
by mrs rocky2 ini remember sitting through countless meetings, convention, and assemblies and having the scripture about putting away the old personality and putting on the new personality hounded into us repeatedly.
in retrospect, it appears wt wanted us to give up any personality or individualism and conform to a new personality based on wt mandates and become a mindless drone.
i am so happy to be free to be me and no longer driven by guilt to conform to a mans interpretation of god.. when we lose the right to be different, we lose the privilege to be free.

Funny little story to share with my fellow pet lovers

it is common to see little neighborhood children and adults alike stoop to pet him in passing.
he often makes the rounds in the evenings, going from door to door in the complex and saying hello through any open doors.

Cats have such personalities! ours come running when we whistle, much like puppies. When our oldest first left for college, her cat sat at the top of the driveway every afternoon waiting for her to come home. He lost so much weight the first year she was gone. He's finally adjusted and is now fat and sassy! Thanks for sharing your story jeanniebeanz.

It's finally warmed up! it has been so cool this year and we can't seem to go 5-days without a rain shower. It is 90 ° F (32 C), humidity is only 20%. I feel bad for those of you with hot, humid weather. It’s not something we customarily have here in the Inland Northwest.

Inappropriate "shepherding" calls.
by avishai inhow many have recieved calls by the elders that were under the guise of "shepherding", but somehow inappropriate, i.e, you were a woman alone with only one elder showing up, or you felt physically intimidated by both.
or say they show up at like, 10:30 at night for a shepherding call.
and you say "hey, i appreciate the visit but please call first!

The last shepherding call made to us was probably around five years ago. It was supposed to take no more than an hour. It lasted four hours! I was soooo tired! They had the nerve to close with a prayer, asking Jehovah to help us with our "unresolved issues." These two brothers weren't prepared for us at all. I think they needed to pray for themselves and the confusion they had.

Rocky and I owned/operated an auto mechanic shop for many years, and he is a farmer so he can fix anything. There were some that we helped and it was truly a wonderful feeling.
There was one couple from another congregation who's car broke down at the edge of our town. They were still more than 120 miles from their home. They had two little girls, it was a Sunday afternoon so none of the repair shops were open. We were on our way to another town in the opposite direction to take our little girls ice skating. Rocky fixed their car. They had no money to pay him, even for parts. But we did receive a very nice thank you in the mail and a beautiful beadwork broach and beaded hair combs for our girls. They were so appreciative. And I would have felt bad if they couldn't get those two little girls back home safely.
But there were others in the congregation who made fairly good income who were constantly calling to get free mechanical advice. One of them worked at the local hardware store. We wouldn't dare ask him to give us free stuff from the store! but they just don't make the connection that our income came from paying customers and that by taking the time to give them free advice, we were taking time away from serving our paying customers.
Rocky always liked helping the widowed sisters when their washers or dryers broke, they were always so grateful for any kind of help. And we always helped folks move since we have the big 2-ton truck. Some were grateful, some not.
